The Queens Ball: A Bridgerton Experience Is Now Open In Los Angeles

It looks a little odd against the high romantic looks of the castmembers, though. The accentuated shoulder is awkward and we’re not convinced on the fringe (we never are), but aside from those complaints, she looks pretty great. The dress is dramatically gorgeous, and the hair and makeup are flawless. At a grand ball they host, Charlotte she tells George she is pregnant again and she once again commits to stay with him. New Bridgerton episodes haven’t yet debuted, but we’ve already found our Diamond of the Season.

Even Lady Whistledown falls in love: A brief rundown of Nicola Coughlan’s dating history

Young Lady Danbury’s life is upended in Episode 3, when her husband Lord Danbury (Cyril Nri) dies after their successful ball. While there are advantages to her new status as a widow — chief among them, the end of Agatha’s unfulfilling bedroom duties — she is also thrown into a new precarious situation. Richert says the purple powder Benedict and Colin take together is probably opium. Other psychedelic drugs, like psilocybin (a.k.a. magic mushrooms), would also have been available at the time, but they weren't ground into a powder. According to the DEA, the mushrooms are usually kept fresh or dried and eaten or brewed as a tea. "There was a pretty wide-open marketplace where people who had that high-level status could gain access to drugs that suited their class," Richert explains.

Was Queen Charlotte really Black?

For the wealthy elite, there were gold-coated opium pills and tonics containing gold, opium, and expensive spices like saffron. Other products using less expensive ingredients were marketed for lower-class customers. Meaning, if someone did decide to do drugs, their doctors and family members might disapprove, but they wouldn't be arrested or otherwise held accountable by authorities. If people had the money to buy drugs, they could find all kinds of them in the form of tonics, pills, and more. Today, there are strict rules and laws that separate recreational and medical drug use.

Life

However, while visiting an art exhibition with Lady Danbury in a later episode, the happy grandmother briefly mentions that Anthony is still on his honeymoon. We learned at the end of season 2 that Anthony and Kate took a six-month honeymoon abroad before returning back to the Bridgerton country house (where the lovely final croquet scene was set). So, Queen Charlotte takes place shortly after the events of season 2, while Anthony and Kate are still off in newlywed bliss. Meanwhile, the present-day Queen Charlotte faces a small crisis within her family, in a storyline taking place between London's social seasons. The monarch is woken in the middle of the night with the tragic news that her daughter-in-law, the Princess Royal, has died in childbirth along with her grandchild, who was to be heir to the throne.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story recap guide

Lo and behold—it’s his daughter, a young Violet Bridgerton (Connie Jenkins-Greig). In the fields, Lord Ledger and Lady Danbury exchange loaded glances and coded words, hinting at the one-time nature of the tryst they shared and the respect they’d lose should the affair continue—or, worse, be made known. By the time they part ways, it’s clear they will not meet again.

In the Bridgerton spin-off series, we meet a young Queen Charlotte who is betrothed to King George under mysterious circumstances. No love story in Bridgerton has been straightforward, and though Queen Charlotte arrives in England long before the first season of Bridgerton, her love affair with King George also has twists and turns. "…"that they're able to do that, as well know that they can stand on their own." "You know I'm really excited to tell these stories in two timelines," Rhimes told fans during the trailer event for Queen Charlotte. Everyone who's been around the phenomenon knows, you really can't tell how big Bridgerton will get. With Queen Charlotte already here, there have been whispers about other corners of the franchise being developed as well.

The first episode opens in Mirow, Germany at a large palace. A young Queen Charlotte secretly peeks through a door and watches two men discuss paperwork and then shake hands. Angry by what she just witnessed, Charlotte knocks over a statue and then quickly walks away. The next scene shows Charlotte walking out of the palace to a carriage where one of the men she was spying on it awaits her. At the ball, Charlotte twirls about in her pastel gown and glittering diamonds, and she holds steady to George’s hand, leading him as opposed to vice versa.

Snuff was also often “flavored” to add an extra burst of scent, taste, or fragrance. In reality, however, “the Great Experiment” never happened—in fact, nothing even close to it even existed. While there were many Black and mixed-race people in England during this time, British society was still heavily segregated. Even by the Regency era, this would have been wildly unrealistic; while slavery was abolished in the British Empire in 1807, slaves weren’t fully free in the British colonies until 1838 and its repercussions are still felt to this day. As Brimsley tells her in Episode 6, her life is dedicated to serving King George. “She is frozen in time because it’s almost like he’s died, but he hasn’t.

What is the queen sniffing in 'Bridgerton'? All about that mysterious substance

In the Queen Charlotte premiere, the titular royal’s only grandchild, Princess Charlotte, dies in the Regency era. Suddenly, there is no heir to the throne to follow Queen Charlotte’s children’s generation, which also means that the monarch’s years of work strengthening the family dynasty is in peril. In response to the loss, Queen Charlotte spends the rest of the series begging her many children to produce a legitimate successor. “I always find it really difficult to explain what love is. It really is a deeper connection with that person, an understanding that when you look at them, it’s there,” Rosheuvel says. The glances between Queen Charlotte and King George — represented in both eras of their marriage — captures that emotion.

Turns out, the Bridgerton partying lifestyle wasn't actually so far off from the real-life version. She'd have to choose another drug (or at least find a new method of ingesting it). Records show that people in England knew about and chewed on coca leaves as early as the 1700s, Richert says—well before the Regency era.

This dynamic is not something that passes unnoticed by Princess Augusta, who realizes, finally, that Charlotte is not controlling the Crown. Just as Charlotte performs this act of commitment for her husband, so does Agatha realize she can never again do the same. She denies Adolphus’ proposal, satisfied in the knowledge that, regardless of whether her choice is the right one, it is hers alone to make. And a newly pregnant Charlotte is supportive, only urging—firmly, as befits a queen—that Agatha never again hide her concerns from her friend.

And so Agatha turns her attention to matters in which she holds more sway. She wants to retain her title, and for it to be passed down to her children and beyond. But Princess Augusta is hesitant to grant such a wish without the exchange of information about Charlotte, with whom Agatha has become close. With such a stalemate blocking their mutual progress, Agatha considers turning to Charlotte herself for help.

Tomekia Reed named 49ers womens basketball head coach Inside UNC Charlotte UNC Charlotte

Following Pratt's dismissal, the 49ers hired Hal Wissel as head basketball coach. Wissel was previously a successful coach at many levels, but his tenure would be the least successful in the Charlotte's history at the Division 1 level. After three seasons and a 22–62 record, Wissel was dismissed following the 1984–1985 season.

Roster

He averages 10.8 points per game, shooting over 40% from beyond the arc and 80% from the free throw line. Aly Khalifa and Igor Miličić Jr. joined the double-digit scorers, who each scored 11 points and came together to tally six rebounds and two steals. The oddsmakers had a good feel for the line for this one, as the game opened with the 49ers as a 5.5-point favorite. The win over East Carolina University tied Charlotte for the seventh longest win streak in the country.

In his first and only head coaching job, Pratt could not maintain the success of the program under Rose, compiling a 56–52 record over four seasons with no postseason appearances. The best year under Pratt was the 1978–1979 season in which the 49ers earned a 16–11 record and a second place Sun Belt finish. On April 12, 2010 Alan Major was announced as the new head coach of the Charlotte 49ers. The coaching search targeted assistants at successful high-level programs, Major was a member of Thad Matta's staff at Ohio State which included a national title game appearance. Throughout his career Major has a history of helping highly skilled big men develop into great NBA prospects.

Lutz accepted the head coaching job at Gardner–Webb in 1995 only to resign two weeks later to accept the assistant job at his alma mater on Mullin's staff. In what would be Mullins' last season, Charlotte went 14–15 in 1995–1996, finishing tied for 6th in the league. Mullins retired following that season as the all-time winningest coach in school history with 182 wins and also had more postseason appearances than all previous coaches combined. The basketball team has spent the better part of its history in the shadow of the state's four Atlantic Coast Conference teams. However, the 49ers have carved out a niche of their own, making 11 appearances in the NCAA tournament. In their first appearance, in 1977, they advanced all the way to the Final Four—at the time, the deepest run for a first-time tournament participant.

Murphy coached the 49ers in the NAIA as a member of the Dixie Conference from 1965 through 1970, winning the conference in 1969 and 1970. Tomekia Reed has been named the ninth women’s basketball head coach for the Charlotte 49ers. Reed, a three-time HBCU National Coach of the Year, comes to Charlotte following a highly successful six-year stint as head coach of the Jackson State Tigers. The 2012–2013 season resulted in an improved 21–12 record and a berth in the NIT. The season was successful overall, but the 49ers lost four games in a row in February/March which removed them from NCAA tournament consideration.

The 49ers should continue their defensive attack by putting pressure on the Panthers' offensive attack. Inducing a higher rate of turnovers will help the 49ers have more opportunities down the stretch. Along with Freeman, Kentrell Pullian saw double figures at 10 points in the contest.

Major's first season was headlined by the dismissal of one senior big man, Shamarri Spears, in the Fall and another, Phil Jones, not qualifying academically for the Spring semester. The early season schedule was highlighted by a 49–48 victory over #7 ranked Tennessee and a 2OT win at Georgia Tech. The three-year postseason drought had been the longest for the program since Jeff Mullins took over in 1985. Following Rose's departure, Mike Pratt, an assistant under Rose at Charlotte, was named the head coach for the 1978–1979 season.

After beating Central Michigan in the first round 91–86, the 49ers dispatched Syracuse 81–59 to advance to the Elite Eight. The 49ers then took out heavily favored Michigan by a score of 75–68 to advance to the program's first and only Final Four—the first time that a first-time participant had ever advanced that far. Charlotte would fall to eventual champions Marquette in the national semifinals 51–49. Their final record was 28–5, still a school record for wins in a season. Following the 2012–13 season, Darion Clark announced he was leaving the program.[11] Clark saw a total of seven minutes in the 49ers' two A10 tournament games, a large drop from his regular season average.

Victor Nickerson also announced he was transferring, leaving Charlotte with only 6 scholarship players on roster. UNC Charlotte first fielded an intercollegiate basketball program in 1965. Chancellor Bonnie Cone appointed Harvey Murphy, previously a physical education instructor and head of the physical education program at the university, as the first head coach in school history.

Jackson State women's basketball coach Tomekia Reed was announced as the new head coach at Charlotte on Thursday. JSU’s mark of 26 wins set a school record, including a historic 18-0 record in SWAC play. JSU won 21 consecutive games in calendar year 2022, the longest streak in the nation entering the NCAA Tournament. Reserve Paxson Wojcik used up the rest of his eligibility, while James Okonkwo entered the transfer portal shortly after the season ended. Neither of them were key contributors, but Harrison Ingram is the final major departure after he declared for the NBA Draft.

After Bill Foster left for Clemson, Lee Rose was hired as the head coach in 1975. Rose inherited a team coming off of two 20-win seasons and led them to the NIT championship game in his first year. The following season the 49ers became a charter member of the Sun Belt Conference. After Watkins left for Texas A&M, Charlotte named Bobby Lutz its new head coach. Lutz was an assistant under both Watkins and Jeff Mullins at Charlotte.

In making the program's second straight appearance in the 2022 NCAA Tournament, and the first as a No. 14 seed, JSU led in the fourth quarter in nearly achieving a historic tournament win over No. 3 LSU. JSU made its return to the NCAA Tournament as a No. 14 seed again to face No. 3 UConn in 2024, where Reed won the respect of hall of fame coach Geno Auriemma. We may have video highlights with points and news for some Charlotte 49ers games, but only if they play their game in one of the most popular basketball leagues.

A Closer Look Inside The Zucks Top-Secret Hawaii Compound

mark zuckerberg house hawaii

At the time, Zuckerberg was trying to take over the parcels that resisted him, pushing to limit the right-of-way through his newly acquired land and fencing off his properties so no one could know what was going on inside. Locals were superfluous to Zuckerberg, and that went over very badly with them. Not only does it function as a comfortable family retreat, but there are plans for a wellness center that includes a full-size gym, multiple pools, a sauna, a steam room, and a tennis court. Elsewhere, 11 circular treehouses will be joined by rope bridges so that visitors can climb from one treehouse to the next without stepping foot on the ground.

An enormous compound

Mark Zuckerberg’s residence will feature a distinctive hideout — a 5,000-square-foot underground space accessible through a tunnel connecting the two central mansions on the property. The hideout comprises essential rooms, including a dedicated mechanical room. Remarkably resilient, the space is designed to withstand various calamities, with its doors constructed from the highest-grade concrete and steel, ensuring resistance to blasts and other potential threats. But there are other large landowners on Kauai who employ the more traditional native Hawaiian principle of Aloha ʻĀina which emphasizes the connection of the land to the people.

According to the couple’s spokesperson Ben Labolt, the reservoir is considered high-risk and has not been repaired. The Zuckerbergs are committed to fulfilling the legal requirements surrounding the reservoir, Labolt told Business Insider. The compound also hired Arryl Kaneshiro, then sitting chair of the Kauai County Council, as an agricultural consultant.

A recorded conversation between three of his children and a compound security manager, Hank Barriga, a week after his death, hints at what their legal team has implied in their wrongful death suit against one of Zuckerberg’s LLCs. The filing alleges that there is an effort behind the scenes of the Zuckerberg project to control the flow of information.

But the “land grab,” as many in the local community called it, didn’t go over well. In January 2017 Zuckerberg withdrew the lawsuits, promising to have a professor of native Hawaiian studies look into the issue for an amicable resolution. Initially, Zuckerberg was greeted warmly, along with more than a few requests for donations to local groups. But soon after the purchase, Zuckerberg had a lava rock wall built along a portion of his property line on Koolau Road, and some local residents were not too happy about it. In the politically charged public discourse about “walls,” Zuckerberg’s wall became a point of contention. Except for the portion near Kuhio Highway, the wall is short enough to see over.

Mark Zuckerberg Buys 600 Acres in Hawaii for $53 Million

Kuleana is a Hawaiian value that translates to responsibility and refers to the reciprocal relationship people have with the land to care for it. In the 1850s, the Hawaiian Kingdom allocated the Kuleana lands, which were intended to go to Hawaiians who already lived on and worked the land. Before this, Native Hawaiians did not conceive of land ownership but instead shared land communally. The Kuleana lands were meant to be passed down to descendants of the grantees forever. Reddit CEO Steve Huffman bought motorcycles, guns, and ammo to be prepared to "hole up in my house for some amount of time" if necessary and even got laser eye surgery because he thinks it'd help his odds of survival in a disaster. The couple has also been praised for their charitable efforts in the region, including a $4.85 million donation to the island’s Habitat for Humanity to build affordable housing in Waimea, Anahola and Waipouli.

The enigmatic project, known as Koolau Ranch, covers approximately 1,400 acres and is the brainchild of none other than Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta. Since acquiring the land in 2014, Zuckerberg has embarked on an ambitious mission to create a private sanctuary that encompasses not only luxurious amenities but also self-sufficiency and security. The compound is rumored to feature a 5,000-square-foot underground shelter, its own energy and food supplies, and a price tag exceeding $270 million. Tall tales about the compound and its owner run rampant on the local rumor mill—known colloquially as the “coconut wireless.” One person heard that Zuckerberg was building a vast underground city. Many people speculate that the site will become some sort of postapocalyptic bunker in case of civilization collapse.

MOGUL MANSIONS: From Elon Musk to Jeff Bezos, here are the homes and estates owned by the wealthiest people in tech »

It also highlights the broader issue of wealth disparity and the disconnection between the super-rich and the everyday challenges faced by ordinary people. “We wound up literally building a 30-foot-deep [9.1m] lake [around the compound] skimmed with a lighter-than-water flammable liquid that can transform into a ring of fire,” he said. “It is centred around two mansions with a total floor area comparable to a professional football field [5295 square metres] which contain multiple elevators, offices, conference rooms, and an industrial-sized kitchen.

mark zuckerberg house hawaii

Some residents express frustration with the increased traffic and noise, as well as the loss of ocean views due to the imposing wall surrounding the compound. The couple plan to extend farming, ranching, conservation and wildlife protection work on the land, LaBolt said. Now that the majority of the land is owned by Zuckerberg, there’s no beach access for miles.

The driver, a 53-year-old Kauai local, suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

The compound is designed to be entirely self-sufficient, with its own water tank and pump system. The expansive 1,400-acre property serves as a haven for agriculture and ranching, producing a variety of food and resources. While specific details about the self-sustainability measures are scarce, the plans indicate a commitment to preserving natural resources and wildlife habitats. The tech billionaire is in the process of building a luxury estate, rumored to be costing him a cool $260 million, but included in the plans is a secretive underground bunker that’s twice as big as an average Australian home.

In 2015, the Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, one of the richest men on Earth, announced that he would be giving away the bulk of his wealth during his lifetime. One of the main goals of his charity, he wrote in a treacly public letter to his daughter, was “promoting equality”. The subterranean bunker will hold a living space and mechanical room and feature an apparent “blast-resistant” concrete and steel door, Wired reported. Corbi told The Hollywood Reporter that one customer – an unnamed business “mogul” – was desperately to ensure his family was protected, from anyone and anything.

These mansions feature multiple elevators, offices, conference rooms, and an industrial-sized kitchen. In addition to the main residences, the compound will house a web of 11 treehouses connected by intricate rope bridges, creating a treetop paradise for visitors. Other amenities include a full-size gym, pools, sauna, hot tub, cold plunge, and tennis court.

HOPR is the sort of over-the-top calorie splurge you tend to have once a year, and I—like Keanu—especially love this restaurant during the holiday season. The shiny red and gold ornaments. The pine green wreaths everywhere. I don’t celebrate Christmas, but the dining room during December at HOPR sure makes me wish I did.

Then he spins the salad, tossing all the while. It’s a weird combination, but delicious enough that we finish every bite. Apple Crisp ($10.50) is steakhouse size. Piping hot, topped with vanilla ice cream.

We get a corner booth in the back, lined with red leather seats and framed with magnums of wine. Our cocktails arrive and are shaken table-side, then poured in chilled martini glasses. Each drink is about two-and-a-half pours, so our shakers stay on the table, allowing us to have more as needed. Then comes a warm, fresh loaf of sourdough bread with salted butter. There’s a huge amount of food after this, but a bite (or five) is definitely a must. It is all about the beef, in different sizes from the small City cut to the extra large Henry VIII.

The packed, buzzing dining room. Chefs in toques wheeling around shiny steel zeppelins, carving meat tableside. Fresh Cream of Horseradish Sauce in three different strengths! The spiciest hit the spot for us.

The iconic House of Prime Rib serves potentially the highest quality corn-fed beef in the Bay Area. Their meticulously prepared meat is aged for 21 days, making it especially tender, juicy and flavorful. Diners enjoy well-marbled prime rib, carved tableside to their exact specifications, along with sides like fluffy mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. The dessert cart offers a decadent array of sinful sweets, and assorted wines promise the perfect pairing. House of Prime rib is a "have to" stop when in San Francisco. The establishment is extremely well ran.

With our meat, we get mashed or baked potatoes, creamed spinach or corn, and Yorkshire pudding. The potato is huge, piled with butter, sour cream, crunchy bacon, cheese, and chives. The spinach is light but flavorful, with bits of bacon and fresh cream.

In addition to the main attraction, the establishment offers a great variety of sumptuous sides. The creamed spinach whispers of delicious simplicity, while the Yorkshire pudding embodies textures that are both crisp and spongy. The baked potatoes, loaded with an assortment of toppings, serve as a delightful companion to the prime rib. Another crowd-favorite is the restaurant's well-curated wine list, which includes some of the most exquisite Californian and international selection.

Lots of noise, carts and waiters all over. It’s no secret that if you’re somehow still hungry, you can order seconds, and chefs will carve you off an additional small slice of meat. After discovering this, I  would always ask for a slice of the end cut, which is a salty, crispy, well-done piece from the end of the rib. Every single time, dining at the House of Prime Rib, the iconic meat mecca on Van Ness Avenue, is such a joy.

The Yorkshire pudding arrives in a cast iron pan before it’s cut into fours and added to our plates. It has a golden brown crust and fluffy insides that are perfect for soaking up the au jus, which is both on the meat and in a little silver gravy boat. Overlooking the iconic San Francisco Bay, House of Prime Rib stands as a gourmet symbol of the city. This restaurant radiates a classic style, merging old school elegance with a modern approach to dining.

The cocktails are very generous, and overall, the price point gives favor to the patron while the house gives nothing but service. Spent the week in Yountville, and I must say House of Prime Rib was a favorite. Wish I had room for dessert, but I was so perfectly full and comfortable I had to pass...

Chicago Fire Fans Are In Tears Over Violet And Severide's Bond In Season 11 Episode 4

charlotte sullivan chicago fire

The episode, titled "No Survivors," could be a very obvious clue that Severide (Taylor Kinney), Joe (Joe Cruz), and Capp (Randy Flagler) drown after an underwater rescue mission goes terribly wrong. Could the trio be taking their place in TV heaven alongside fallen brother Otis (Yuri Sardarov)? Everyone will have to wait until next season to find out.

Severide and Violet have a friendship fans are loving

In Season 2, Episode 22 ("Where the Collapse Started"), Danny was part of a team fighting a fire, but then reentered the fire site, thinking he'd heard a noise. There was no one was left inside, but he was then crushed by crumbling debris, prompting an attempt by Jimmy to save him. Boden was forced to pull Jimmy away from the perilous scene, and Danny died.

Wait, Who Was Anna in 'Chicago Fire'? Season 11 Recently Mentioned Her (SPOILERS)

In the fourth episode, titled "The Center of the Universe," Lieutenant Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) shows up at Violet's (Hanako Greensmith) doorstep and tells her he understands what she's going through. At this point, he mentions his old girlfriend, Anna Turner. Plus, stick around to find out what happened to Anna. Season 11 of Chicago Fire is in full swing, and some of our favorite characters have already been through the wringer. Although most fans are still trying to process the unexpected tragic death of Paramedic Chief Evan Hawkins (Jimmy Nicholas), others are reeling over the reference to a character from the past. Her path crossed with Severide when he was visiting the hospital on a job and after getting to know one another, he came to her rescue when she needed a bone marrow transplant to survive.

Charlotte Sullivan terrorized Harriet the Spy

Indeed, that’s how college basketball’s most prolific scorer, Iowa’s Caitlin Clark, and college lacrosse’s soon-to-be most prolific scorer, Scane, met and became friendly acquaintances. For the latest Chicago Fire season 9 spoilers and news, plus more on the entire series, follow the Chicago Fire category at One Chicago Center. Be sure to save the date and jot down the below tune-in information so you don’t miss a minute of the feel-good winter film featuring one of our favorite One Chicago alums. As Kayla and Justin begin to spend more time together, sparks soon begin to fly as the pair develop feelings.

I had to be very emotional and I couldn’t laugh and that was such a challenge because he is so funny, so good and just a lovely person. For me personally, I would want to leave with some class. She couldn’t hear anymore so she could not listen to opera, she couldn’t see anymore so she couldn’t read her books she loved to read. Then I had a hand on collaborating on my tattoos. All my tattoos are really personal to me, so it’s so cool, that goes back to the details people may or may not pick up on.

He was also Kelly Severide's semi-estranged father and close friends with Chief Boden. Chicago Fire fans met Danny in Season 4, Episode 1 ("Let It Burn") after he visited Jimmy to tease him about his firefighter candidacy and his choice of Firehouse 51. Boden Sr.'s death was cataclysmic for Firehouse 51's typically fearless commander, who faced first-time fatherhood suddenly fatherless. She was among the crew of Firehouse 51 emergency personnel responding to a huge apartment fire in Season 2, Episode 22 ("Real Never Waits"). The episode ended on a cliff-hanger as Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) watched in horror as an explosion went off and the roof collapsed with Firehouse 51 still inside. In the Season 3 premiere ("Always"), Chicago Fire fans were heartbroken to learn that roof collapse caused a beam to fall and strike Shay in the head, killing her instantly.

And that is the time everyone wants to come and meet your baby and I didn’t want to see anybody. Everyone was expecting me to bounce back into shape, and I just felt horrible. I didn’t want to be in front of the camera. I just…there’s such a magnetism for the pilot episode.

They have a serious history together; they may have killed their mother, who had mental illness. Thelma and Louise came to mind when I read the script. Severide’s suffering intensified exponentially in Tuesday’s episode, “Carry Me,” when he lost his beloved girlfriend Anna (Charlotte Sullivan) to her recurring cancer.

Chicago Fire is back with Kelly Severide returning to Firehouse 51 but what happened to his girlfriend Anna Turner?

This is the first time we've had a scene with Severide and Violet alone, and it was a pairing the fans didn't know they needed. As expected, Episode 4 of "Chicago Fire" Season 11 was full of emotion. The members of Firehouse 51 (and the viewers who watch them) are still reeling from the death of Evan Hawkins (Jimmy Nicholas). Violet (Hanako Greensmith) took his tragic passing the worst, understandably, and fans followed her grief journey throughout the episode. Greensmith absolutely nailed her performance in Episode 3 and kept the same energy going into Episode 4.

In “Carry Me,” Episode 20, Anna’s deteriorating health worsens. She dies, and Kelly barely makes it in time to say goodbye, providing the show with one of Kelly’s most heartbreaking moments on the show. It was a marked contrast to many of the show’s other deaths, which often occurred suddenly and unexpectedly, but was no less sad for its inevitability. He seeks her out and learns that her leukemia has become terminal — she'd tried to leave him before the disease devastated her. In "Carry Me," Episode 20, Anna's deteriorating health worsens. She dies, and Kelly barely makes it in time to say goodbye, providing the show with one of Kelly's most heartbreaking moments on the show.

Fans couldn't get enough of these two together and let their thoughts be known on Twitter. The squad never backs down from a rescue mission, but their tear-jerking sacrifices and personal heartbreaks have been devastating to the characters and One Chicago fans alike. After 11 white-knuckling seasons, look back on 11 of the most heart-shattering Chicago Fire deaths. Anna Turner (Charlotte Sullivan) worked out of the 51.

Sullivan, a Canadian actress of Rookie Blue fame, tells TV Insider about her last heart-wrenching scenes with Kinney and her new series, Lifetime’s Mary Kills People. After a 99-goal masterpiece last season, Scane entered her sixth year at the school ranked eighth on the Division I career goals list with 288. Again, one of those years was wiped out by an injury. Another was cut by more than half because of the COVID-19 pandemic. With 64 goals through 15 games in 2024, she has moved up seven spots on the all-time list, leapfrogging former teammate Hailey Rhatigan and Maryland’s Megan Whittle — the former Big Ten leader — along the way.

Their unlikely meet-cute sparks a 10-episode romance between Turner and Severide that ends with her succumbing to her illness. Sullivan's resume, however, extends far beyond the Windy City limits. If you have a soft spot for Canadian television or had the pleasure of growing up in the '90s, here's why you might recognize Sullivan. Anna is a leukemia patient who meets Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) after he donates bone marrow to her. Kelly is screened as a favor to his doctor friend Jeff Clarke (Jeff Hephner) but ends up having to put off the transplant after a work injury. After the surgery, Anna’s health improves somewhat.

Fans everywhere know that no one's safe when they hang out with the folks at Firehouse 51. Not at first, but Mary tells her in my first episode. By the season finale, Nicole makes a big decision about her sister’s business. He’s so down-to-earth and lovely and normal, and he plays the role so well.

House of Prime Rib San Francisco, CA Review & What to Eat

Coordination is on exhibit at all times. King Cut is the best way to go. The horseradish sauces are the perfect compliment. The table made salads bring a touch of the old world classic steak house feel. Creamed spinach is great as well.

Alerts pop up the closer you are to the date. You can dine at the bar, but the experience is far from optimal. In town for the weekend and went here with our hosts.

The packed, buzzing dining room. Chefs in toques wheeling around shiny steel zeppelins, carving meat tableside. Fresh Cream of Horseradish Sauce in three different strengths! The spiciest hit the spot for us.

They have this restaurant’s operation down to a science. If you are looking for prime rib, House of Prime Rib is a must visit. House of Prime Rib opened in 1949 and concentrates on one dish, Prime rib. We have been coming here for many decades, whenever we have a desire for beef. They use corn-fed Prime beef Midwestern beef that is aged for 21 days and cooked in coarse rock salt.

Elegant and classy atmosphere. Prime rib was cooked perfectly and was very delicious. Highly recommend this experience to everyone.

A bit sweet but enough for one to share with the entire table. Decor, Vibe – House of Prime Rib is a classic steakhouse feel with dark wood, glass paneling, large bar and lounge, and several dining areas. We came midweek and the place was still packed. A cross-section of locals and tourists of all ages and races. Clearly a lot of people love this place. Not a quite romantic dining establishment.

The price difference is about $10 from largest to smallest, making it worthwile to supersize and eat leftovers the next day. Kids get their cheap meal too. Iconic SF establishment where the perks keeps coming. Salad made table side, cocktails coming with the full shaker, plenty of delicious food, and seconds of you can finish your meal (for free)! And incredible amount of food, servers, and coordination to make this place run smoothly.

Restaurant Near Me

We will be back and sooner than later. The House serves 21-day aged marbled prime rib in the English tradition, selected from the top 2% of all marketed beef. Our chef confirms the cut we want then slices it right in front of us.

We arrived at 5pm as did a ton of other folks, and had our food within 15 minutes. Betz, now a sprightly 84, has enlisted his son, Steven, to help with day-to-day management and heavy lifting. “I couldn’t do it without him,” says Joe. The decor at the House of Prime Rib is traditional, in the English Style.

The service from start to finish is excellent, efficient, and friendly, never stuffy. It feels like a club you need to belong to — but in reality, everyone is invited to enjoy. The Cocktail Lounge is a great place to start your meal at the House of Prime Rib, but it is also an excellent rendezvous when meeting friends. House of Prime Rib is a San Francisco Landmark. Our juicy and delicious Prime Rib is made from the highest quality corn-fed beef available.

Just select desired cut size from the thin English cut to the beefy Henry VIII cut. This restaurant is popular, we had to book many weeks in advance. The handle upwards of 600 diners a night. It took multiple alerts on different days via Opentable to score a reservation.

With our meat, we get mashed or baked potatoes, creamed spinach or corn, and Yorkshire pudding. The potato is huge, piled with butter, sour cream, crunchy bacon, cheese, and chives. The spinach is light but flavorful, with bits of bacon and fresh cream.

Our waiter pushes over a cart with a huge silver bowl that sits atop a bed of ice. Inside are iceberg lettuce, matchsticks of purple beets, bits of hard boiled egg, and a creamy 1,000 Islands dressing. Plus House of Prime Rib seasoned salt, which our waiter plucks from our table before sprinkling generously on top.

Norwegian Encore is also the setting for one of the biggest go-kart racing tracks at sea. The racecourse also features a middle-of-the-track observation area where your family and friends can cheer you on to victory — and even shoot you with "lasers" that'll give you a boost of power. Some of the extra-charge restaurants come with a flat fee (the teppanyaki outlets are $59 per person, not including the cost of drinks). One thing you need to know upfront about going on a Norwegian cruise is that there are a lot of extra charges — and sometimes quite high extra charges — on the line's ships, particularly for things like restaurants. The line's nine newest ships are big, bustling floating megaresorts that can carry upwards of 3,000 to 4,000 passengers at double occupancy (and even more with every berth filled). At around 143,000 to nearly 170,000 tons, all eight currently rank among the 50 biggest cruise ships in the world (although their rankings will shift downward as more big ships debut).

NCL cruise ship dining packages

In a typical summer, the line will deploy nearly half its ships to Europe while sending several more to the West Coast to sail to Alaska from Seattle; Vancouver, British Columbia; and Seward, Alaska. It'll also operate trips to Bermuda from New York City and Boston, usually with two ships, and trips to the Bahamas and the Caribbean out of Miami. That said, the line does offer some smaller ships that aren't quite as big and bustling as its giants. See Japanese history in person as you discover Yokohama, Japan’s biggest port city, where the country was first opened to outside trade after more than 200 years of seclusion. Whether it’s your cruise destination or a launching point, Vancouver is a beautiful destination in itself with a sophisticated downtown and lots of natural elements to explore.

This picture-perfect island is everything you ever dreamt of, from lush greenery inland and perfectly clear turquoise waters to the scent of gardenia from the coconut groves. Enjoy the great outdoors in Oslo, the beautiful and spacious capital of Norway, where the city includes lakes, forests and lots of history. In Miami, you’ll enjoy a small taste of the tropical weather many of you will experience during your cruise, and you’ll see why Miami is one of the most popular places to live in America. Honolulu, with its near perfect weather every day and beautiful mountains and tropical landscapes, is a destination not to be missed.

A port of call exclusively for NCL ships, Great Stirrup's vacation experience starts and ends with the "Bahama Rama Mama" tender boat (capacity of 300 passengers). Both NCL's first vessels - Sunward (1966) and Starward (1968) - were car ferries, but later their car decks were refitted into cabin decks (housing staterooms) and a 2-deck high theatre lounge. In January 2023, NCLH announced its newly-established brand “Experiences At Sea”. The new program is a partnership with the NCL's subsidiary "Sixthman Festivals at Sea" and NCL’s CM&I division (Charters, Meetings & Incentives).

These dry docks were longer than usual for NCL ships (some up to 3 weeks). On June 14, 2022, NCL signed a partnership deal with Flow Beverage Corporation (USA-based health & wellness-focused company) for its "Flow Alkaline Spring Water" to become NCL's official water fleetwide. Flow Beverage's water is sourced from Seawright Springs (Augusta County, Virginia), has PH 8,1, and comes in a fully recyclable carton (made of 75% renewable materials) with a plant-based cap. Two ships in this Epic class were ordered by NCL in November 2006, with an option for a third vessel that was not exercised.

Add a wide variety of dining options and you'll understand why this is Freestyle Cruising on a truly grand scale. All NCL liners (except NCL Jewel) were refurbished by the end of 2017 (Jewel in 2018). The "Norwegian Edge" project covered 11 vessels - all older ships launched before NCL Breakaway (2013). On all these ships NCL added new venues, and did extensive restaurant makeovers (La Cucina Italian, Cagney's Steakhouse, Le Bistro French, Moderno Churrascaria Brazilia). Decors were changed in MDRs (main dining rooms) and Lido-buffets. Most public spaces (including all lounges, bars, complimentary food bars) received new furniture and flooring, some were completely re-designed.

Known for its "freestyle" cruising, the laid-back Norwegian experience is all about choice, offering one of the largest selections of dining and entertainment venues per ship. Plus, with Norwegian's Free At Sea offer, every cruise fare includes a choice of things like free Wi-Fi, specialty dining, drinks or excursions. One of two ships in the line's Sun class that date to the turn of the millennium, Norwegian Sky is far from the snazziest ship in the Norwegian fleet.

Norwegian ships are also loaded with bars, lounges and nightclubs, including always-busy casinos. Put it all together, and you have vessels with a very lively atmosphere — particularly at night. If you had to compare Norwegian ships to something on land, you'd probably say they were like floating versions of the casino resorts you find in Las Vegas.

Also were recategorized Spa Staterooms fleetwide (Jan 2024) to increase Mandara Spa's availability and allow access to the Thermal Suites for all cabin categories. On warm-weather cruises, the main pool is the line's most popular spot onboard. On ships with water slides, ropes courses, go-kart tracks and laser tag, these are also popular and often require a wait of up to 30 minutes or more. You'll find plenty of young families onboard Norwegian ships, especially during holidays and school breaks.

Rome's Modern Centre is also well worth exploring, and can be found to the north of the Colosseum. It's here that you'll find many of the city's most recognisable piazzas, as well as the stunning Trevi Fountain. Dropping a coin into the water and making a wish is a tradition that shouldn't be missed when you're visiting the city. This part of town is also known for its excellent shopping and dining, with many fine restaurants located along the Via Veneto.

On a cruise to Italy, experience an Italian vacation so immersive, you’ll forever feel at home in the region. In ancient times it was said that all roads lead to Rome… but in your case, the seaport of Civitavecchia is your road to Rome. Take a walking tour of Rome’s many historical landmarks and enjoy the lively sidewalk cafés, ending the day alla romana strolling through the atmospheric Centro Storico. But if you're on an itinerary where Rome is just a port of call for the day, you won't see everything. Either resign yourself to that fact, or book a tour that will at least drive you by the main sights.

As one of the most popular cities to visit in Europe, it should be no surprise there are hundreds of cruise itineraries that include Rome. With two and a half thousand years of history, art and culture, it is no wonder Rome is one of the most visited cities on the planet.

The port itself is located at Civitavecchia, which is about an hour's drive away from the centre of Rome. Before heading into the city, you may want to take a quick look around the port, which is home to the National Archaeological Museum and a 16th-centry fortress built by Michelangelo. However, if time is of the essence then it's best to get straight to it, and from the moment you arrive in Rome you'll be surrounded by amazing sites and attractions.

Italy is famous for its food, and you'll find the very best local cuisine on offer. Once in the Eternal City you can fill your day with museums, churches, archaeological sites, traditional trattorias, artisan shops and, of course, gelato. The Colosseum and the Vatican Museums are Rome's superstar attractions, but there are plenty of quieter gems to explore. For food lovers there are the markets in Campo de' Fiori or the slightly farther flung Testaccio.

It's no secret that Rome is home to some of the most historically significant and beautiful sights in Europe. What you may not know is that you can visit Rome and many of the exciting destinations surrounding it when you book a cruise with Norwegian Cruise Line out of our Rome (Civitavecchia) port of call. We have several itineraries to choose from, each with perks such as unique excursions and breathtaking views.

But it’s a foodie haven too with family-run tripe wagons, wine bars and trattorias. Perched on a hilltop, Taormina has an ancient theater and dramatic views of the scalloped coastline. On your Italian cruise, visit Villa San Martino, the summer residence of Emperor Napoleon, and wander Portoferraio's centuries-old labyrinth of alleys. Rome is Italy's beating heart, full of Rennaissance cathedrals and piazzas begging for you to sit and sip espresso. Watch out for pickpockets on buses and at the major tourist sights (especially the Colosseum, where there are often bands of gypsies). Known as the city the floats on water, and the highlight of any cruise to Italy, Venice needs no further introduction.

Listed prices may have blackout dates, qualifications or restrictions. Sicily's second-largest city is intimately connected to the active volcano that towers above it. While Costa attracts a largely European clientele, it's actually part of the Carnival Corporation, and the ship most resembles Carnival Cruise Lines in its design and in its layout. The sister ships are actually built to Panamax specifications, which means they're not only smaller than many of their fleetmates, but they're more flexible, too.

Passengers are bused between the river and Bucharest, and the cruise tour includes time to see the city. There are often excellent deals to be had, too, such as free flight credit when booking early, buy-one-get-one-free offers and reduced-single supplement for solo travelers.
